Benefits of Tantalum Plate
Corrosion resistance: Tantalum plates have high corrosion resistance due to their long-term stable use in strong acids, alkalis, salt solutions, and oxidizing atmospheres. The stable tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) protective film formed on its surface further enhances its corrosion resistance.
Oxidation resistance: Tantalum plates can also be used stably for a long time at high temperatures and have good oxidation resistance.
High strength: Tantalum plate has high tensile strength and yield strength, and can withstand large loads. Its tensile strength is ≥ 600MPa, yield strength is ≥ 300MPa, and elongation is ≥ 15%.

Tantalum Sheet & Tantalum Plate Production Technology
Most tantalum plates are produced by cold working methods. And most thick plates are annealed in vacuo. There is no special requirement for the speed of heating and cooling as there is no phase transition. Quadruplex rolling machines are used in the process of annealing. More attention is paid to avoid being scratched during manufacturing process and delivery since Tantalum is a soft metal.
Usually start from 150 ~ 300mm tantalum ingot to 80 ~ 100mm thickness plate, then cold rolling from this plate. The compression ratio can be over 95%.
The typical rolling is under room temperature or similar to room temperature to avoid developing oxide at surface.
In the process of heat rolling, when the temperature reaches 1000˚C, intense oxidation will happen due to recrystallization.
Pure tantalum sheet, 90%Tantalum 10%Tungsten, 97.5%Tantalum 2.5%Tungsten, 60%Tantalum 40%Niobium sheet are all manufactured by the same technology.
