Forging and Annealing Process of Tungsten Rods

 
 

After forging, the density and hardness of tungsten rods increase significantly, but the average forging ratio is too large, which can easily lead to forging cracking and other phenomena in the tungsten rods. When forging at 1450 °C, the average forging ratio should be less than 32%.

 
 

Compared with the tungsten rod with a smaller average forging ratio and one end forged at one end, the tungsten rod with a larger average forging ratio and one end forged at one end has a finer structure and higher hardness.

 
 

When the total forging ratio is about 80%, the smaller average forging ratio is used, and the tungsten rods forged at one end of the fire are basically recrystallized when annealed at 1300 °C for 30 minutes, while the larger average forging ratio is used, and the two ends are forged at the one fire. The tungsten rod needs to be annealed at 1350℃ for 60min to complete the recrystallization. After annealing, the hardness of the tungsten rods in the two forging processes will decrease, and before annealing and at the initial stage of annealing, the hardness of the tungsten rods forged by the former process is smaller than that of the latter. With the completion of recovery and recrystallization, this difference is no longer obvious.
